- Microsatellites are tandem repeat DNA sequences that are common, highly polymorphic genetic elements within the eukaryotic genome. Alterations, either expansion or deletions, of microsatellites were used as clonal markers for the detection of human cancer, including bladder cancer. (Taken from EDRN protocol description)
