- Description
- SCCAIC, squamous cellular carcinoma antigen (SCCA) immunocomplexed with IgM, has been proposed as an alternative marker. Squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCA) may act as a protease inhibitor to modulate the host immune response against tumor cells. It is present in the cytoplasm of squamous cells and is also secreted in plasma in some hepatocellular carcinoma, but at low protein level.
