Current Action Items:
- ONGOING: PIs are asked to review their data in LabCAS and let JPL know of any issues. Update: Dan Crichton reminded PIs to let the know about any new data they want to send to JPL and to make sure their data is updated in LabCAS.
- ONGOING: Discuss roadmap for additional hackathons and workshops.
- Federated Learning: Matt Schabath and Eugene Koay may present on this topic at a future meeting. Heather Kincaid is working on scheduling this presentation.
Agenda/Discussion:
DICOM Validation Update
- Define a minimal set of required DICOM header tags to make the DICOM imaging reusable and ready for EDRN while minimizing the burden to the sites.
- This will also support header standard standardization and guide SOP development for the EDRN and imaging studies. Currently working with the P-MRI and LTP2 images.
- There is a subgroup of EDRN investigators with a draft set of required core tags based on the TCIA requirements where a draft set of tags that will be updated during the ingest of those images using the MCC API and JPL workflows and a script provided by Radka Stoyanova, which checks the core tags and ensures proper formatting.
- Currently have drafted a process for the sites on how to do deidentification. Next Steps include:
- Generating Validation Summary Reports
- Updated validation logic to reduce false positives
- Additional PHI/PII checks
- Draft PET-specific tag extension
- Updated blinding approach for image reference sets
- Next steps: DICOM subgroup call with LTP2 and PMRIs PIs
- DICOM validation Script
- Checks all required Core tags plus CT, MRI or PT extensions
- Runs PHI/PII checks based on DICOM PS3.15 Appendix E:
- Possible validation errors or warnings
- Possible burned-in PHI/PII in pixels
- Possible PHI/PII in header attributes
- Updated validation logic (profile routing)
- Testing approach
- Running the DICOM validation summary report on all LTP2 and PMRI images i in LabCAS
- Iteratively updating the script to reduce false positives
- Profile routing added to determine if a core tag is Required, Optional or Not Applicable
- Examples discussed using LTP2 CTs. The group asked some questions.
- Testing approach
- Getting existing PMRI and LTP2 Data Ready
- Step 1: Finalize validation rules with the DICOM subgroup and PMR/LTP2 PIs.
- Step 2: Run verification on all PMRI and LTP2 images
- If PHI/PII is detected, delete affected images and request new uploads from the site
- If fails validation, repeat corrected images from the site.
- Step 3: Apply header updates and run header updates workflow (e.g. EventID, BlindedParticipant, VisitCode b-value on validated images
JPL believes the group is making a lot of progress.
