Discussion:
Review of Pancreatic Cancer Reference Set Application from Pilar Navarro Medrano:
Requesting 15 ul each of plasma and serum for a diagnostic marker for pancreatic cancer. Previously compared marker in cases and controls but in a small sample size. Didn’t look in screening setting. Requesting 19 cancer cases and 19 normals, which is inadequate, and the stage of cancer and the nature of the controls is not defined. Reviewer thought data was compelling but will need to work with DMCC for appropriate sample size. Discussion of applications for screening but not a lot of data. Need a clinical application and a sample size that reflects the clinical application. The application will be sent to pancreatic group for further review. Will table and send to Randy Brand and Anirban Maitra and Ying Huang for their review.
