Abstract

No abstract availalbe.

Aims

The main clinical application of the markers we are planning to evaluate is whether the marker(s) have sufficient sensitivity and specificity to identify high-risk individual who can be triaged into colonoscopy. We will test the level of the four novel markers in the EDRN colorectal cancer reference set in a blinded fashion to evaluate and confirm the sensitivity and specificity of each marker by various statistical analysis including ROC. Once the adequate performance of each marker is confirmed, a larger study will be conducted in collaboration with EDRN to determine if the marker(s) can be useful in a clinical practice.

Analytic Method

Based on the composition of the EDRN reference set, appropriate statistical analyses can be performed by our statistical consultants, or by the EDRN Data Management and Coordinating Center (DMCC). These analyses may include univariate and multivariate logistic regression and ROC analysis, sensitivity and specificity based on cut-off values, correlations between the markers, and CMH analysis for determining the cancer risk assessment.

No Data Received at DMCC

Outcome

The EDRN Colorectal reference samples will be useful in confirming the potential application of novel serum markers for colorectal cancer that can detect presence of cancer in high-risk asymptomatic patients.
