Abstract
No abstract availalbe.
Aims
We are addressing the question of whether G-protein coupled receptor-associated sorting protein 1 (GASP-1) initially discovered in the serum of breast cancer patients can be used as a serum biomarker for the early detection, diagnosis or prognosis of breast cancer.
Analytic Method
We will use logistic regression to test if GASP-1 is associated with case-control status after adjustment for age and body mass index. As described in the breast cancer reference set description document, with sample size of 30 cases and 30 controls the study has excellent power for a positive result if the marker is associated with breast cancer (OR=5 for a dichotomized version of the marker). An age-adjusted ROC curve and AUC for the GASP-1 marker will be calculated along with bootstrap confidence limits
